Dear friends,
Have a wonderful Christmas time and a very happy New Year!

A short overview about what I’ve been up to in October.

On October 9th there was the opening of the international exhibition titled “Courage to Live”. I participate in the exhibition with my painting “A Woman”, which has become one of the favourites, as I was told. The exhibition was told about on TV, but my work was not shown. I’ve been told that there was also an article written for a journal, and the text I wrote to accompany my painting was also used, but I don’t know if the article has been published yet. It is my understanding that sometime in the beginning of 2019 the same exhibition will open in Tartu, in the Estonian National Museum.

On October 15th I opened an exhibition titled “Yearning” at the Culture Centre at Värska which is a small borough in South Estonia with a peculiar and lively culture.

This is my video “It is a luck to be happy or An unmade step towards happiness” which was made in the end of 2017.
In the video I try to show my most ordinary day. My thoughts and the poem are in Estonian. Besides painting I like to write poems and other things as well. At the moment I’m working on an unfinished book. I’m going to write a lot in it about painting and about our Association. In the video there is an excerpt from the movie “Wheelchair Dance” which was made for the Estonian TV when I was 19. I liked to draw back then already.

A really nice surprise for me

That little painting of mine - “The Flowers” - has found a new home. At Mrs. Linda’s place in America. 😊

Back when I painted “The Flowers”, the evening seemed somehow sad, and I was also in a sad mood myself... Two simple flowers… I thought to myself that this painting would probably end up on a dusty shelf, because it seemed so bland… Still, painting it brought me satisfaction and joy… I was longing for something that was not there (yet)… Back then I wouldn’t have even dreamed that a so simple painting of mine will have such a joyful journey and such a joyful destiny.

“The Flowers” has been on a couple of exhibitions, although every time I had my doubts whether it would be worth the audience’s while to show it. But every time there was somebody who liked namely this one.

I’m really happy right now !

When my friend Aave told me that her daughter Annela had given my painting as a gift to her friend Linda from America, my heart started beating very fast. For quite a while. Such a thing had never happened to a painting purchased from me before. Not that I know of anyway.

Some days ago I happened to mention to my friend Maarja that it would be nice if some of my paintings found their way to America, because I will soon have visited the whole of Estonia with my paintings.
One must take care about one’s dreams and be prepared for them to fulfil in unexpected ways. Or, I guess, rather, one must dream big and courageous dreams.

Have a nice trip to your new home, my little flowers !

Bring lots of people down there joy and smiles.

This is the best gift for me and the best prize for my artist’s work !

The exhibition “My footprint in your heart” in the library of the Tallinn University of Technology that I opened on April 6th, is a little bit peculiar - together with my paintings there are also my book, my writings and poems, as well as some journals where there are articles about me. So, lots of my thoughts and creations. At the opening it seemed that the visitors felt a kinship to such kind of exhibition

These photos were made by Tiia, the artist of the Tallinn University of Technology.

Big thankyou to the personnel who were eager to have my exhibition organised there. As far as I could gather, this is the very first similar one there. And of course, a little special in that the artist creates her works with her foot.

Thank you also to Katrin, who had the idea to organize an exhibition a while ago already… And for being a friend as well as a PA at the opening. Were both a little bit nervous, but it was part of it. We managed nicely :)

This exhibition is a little bit special for myself as well - there are also my writings, and a poem among them (I already got some positive feedback which maybe will give me courage to write some more poems in the future), some journals where there are articles about me … It’s just that neither Katrin nor me have left a copy of the journal where Katrin found me as a pen-friend. It was probably back in1985, possibly even earlier. We just can’t figure out, how long we have known each other. For a lifetime !!!

Unfortunately, I keep getting praises that mostly don’t belong to me. Namely, so far the Association has not yet issued my cards or calendars, but some people think otherwise. And when I tell them tere are not my works available yet and ask them to address their praise to other talented artists they ask  why there are not yet cards made from my paintings. And the I don’t know what to answer.

On March 5th I opened an exhibition titled “Stories of the Moments” in the Daycare Centre for Disabled People in Tallinn. I also organised a workshop there under the title “The art of living and being”.
